Eliminate the middleman

Couldn't the folks at the World Cup save lots of time by getting rid of those two hours of low-scoring or no-scoring soccer altogether and just going straight to the penalty kicks? Seriously, it's like deciding the World Series winner with a home run derby, or the NBA champion with a three-point contest. Why even bother?

Don't commend on things that you don't completely comprehend. Better stick with your NASCRAP uh I mean NASCAR - Now it's a true good ole American sport.

Thanks for the drive-by trolling, anonymous commenter who apparently can't distinguish between commend and comment, but my sport is college football, not NASCAR. I watched and enjoyed a fair number of World Cup games, and I think it's a shame they didn't get to break the tie the old-fashioned way in the championship match.

The use of the word "commend" instead of comment is an international standard that you are also unfamiliar and unable to comment on.

For example, folks from other countries and pretentious soccer fans are unable to commend Danica Patrick's probable move to NASCAR because they are unable to enjoy the beauty that is a hot chick driving a car. Mainly because they watch games where the ball bounces around for two hours and matches can end in ties -- known in some languages as a "lame cop out."

But yeah, Danica Patrick in a stockcar.

Yeah, I'd hit.

Like a wall.
