The countdown continues

The Birmingham News reports today that former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore will reveal his 2006 gubernatorial aspirations, or lack thereof, in October. Gov. Bob Riley remains uncommitted.

Riley is uncommitted, but only publicly. His staff have all been informed to get ready to gear up for the 2006 campaign -- and for scattered showers.

Maybe he'll announce it during National Bible Week after he reaffirms that God -- and certain balloting issues in Baldwin County -- appointed him as governor.

In line with what King Cockfight says, I have it from two good sources high up in the administration that Riley will run. I also have it from a source close to Moore that he will either run for governor, or for the Supreme Court Chief Justice slot, which will be open (he is just 4 years shy of vesting in the judicial retirement system).
