The Southern equivalent of Howard Stern

Did you ever want to pick up Alabama's largest newspaper to read nearly 3,000 words about a bald sports-radio host? Now you can.

Yes, we do like college football here. Why do you ask?

While I enjoy SEC football (go Vanderbilt!), I have come to absolutely loathe Paul Finebaum. However, unlike many people, I try to avoid his voice/image/written word at all costs.

I also wanted to comment briefly to say I really enjoy your blog. Being a former Alabamian, I completely relate with your experiences. I also appreciate the bits of news you post about our legislative geniuses. Keep up the great work, and know that you have another regular reader!

I don't hate Finebaum so much as I just don't listen to his show. Talk radio, as a format, tends to descend regularly into little more than a shouting match or a gotcha game of provocation, and there are better ways to spend one's time.

Thanks for reading. As per tradition, I'll add a link to your blog.

Good point. I'm not a huge fan of talk radio as a whole, and I gave up on sports talk a long time ago. It's one of those things where I just don't understand how THAT much time can be devoted to talking about sports. Ah well, to each his own.

Thanks for the link - I have returned the favor!

Finebaum = Stern? How? I've never heard this uttered from Paul's mouth:

"Hey UAB President Carol Garrison, take your top off!"

And no, I never uttered that, either.
