Death be not furry

In the latest edition of The Auburn Plainsman, a columnist dives headfirst into one of the hottest, most compelling debates of our time: assisted squirrel suicide.

Okay, that's just weird. On the other hand, several squirrels have sacrificed themselves on the transformer in our back yard. Don't know why the word doesn't get around that it's a dangerous place to hang out.

At least this person has agreed to halt the flattening of squirrels before things got out of hand. But now... do we hold him accountable for even considering the notion of assisting squirrels in offing themselves in the first place?

I am an animal rights supporter and don't like it when people disregard the lives of animals. I do, however, wonder why squirrels run out in front of my vehicle, stop in the middle of the road, and dance around before deciding which side they wish to run to. That's in no way an excuse for *intentionally* kllling animals, but you aren't supposed to swerve or brake to avoid them either.
