I learn something new

I knew Alabama's divorce rate was high, but I didn't know it was the nation's highest. Does anyone care to offer an explanation?

Perhaps the divorce rate is so high because more people get married and at younger ages?

I think that the above observation is probably true of Alabama and other Southern states with high divorce rates. Another likely factor is the South's low wage, non-unionized economy. Financial problems are often a source of marital discord. Job instability and low wages can certainly take a toll on marriages. It is difficult to have family stability without family wages.
